Post Ideas
Capture inspiration as Post Ideas, plan a complete calendar privately with drafts, then publish ideas to your workspaces.
Who Sees What?
Workspace owners can create and manage their own ideas. Hub administrators can keep Hub ideas private as drafts, then publish them when bound workspaces should see them.
Post Ideas helps you save content concepts, organize future posts, and turn ideas into published content when you're ready.
Ideas can be as simple as a short phrase, campaign concept, or content theme. Save them now and come back to them later when you're ready to create a post.
Watch: Build Your Calendar Before You Go Live
Plan and schedule a complete calendar of content privately, then publish it to your workspaces. This video shows how to capture, draft, and schedule Post Ideas on the calendar, then publish them one at a time or in bulk.
Create a Post Idea
Open Post Ideas
In the Organic Social module, go to Organize > Post Ideas.
Start a new idea
Click the + button to create a new idea.
Add a Title and Description
Give your idea a name and a description. This can be a complete thought or a simple reminder.
Examples:
- Customer Spotlight Series
- Meet the Team Mondays
- Summer Promotion Announcement
Post Idea Descriptions Support Variables.
Click the Variable icon while editing, or type {{ to insert location or custom variables into your idea. These variables will carry over when you create a post from the idea.
Add Reference Media (Optional)
Attach images, videos, or other assets that will help when creating the final post.
Add Timing Context (Optional)
Note when the idea should be used.
Example:
- Good for summer campaign
- Use when X product launches
This makes it easier to plan future content and campaigns.
Save
Hub administrators click Save Draft to keep the idea private, or Publish to share it with bound workspaces immediately. Workspace users click Save.

Ways Teams Use Post Ideas
Many teams use Post Ideas as a content backlog, collecting ideas during brainstorming sessions and turning them into posts later.
Plan Privately With Drafts
A Hub Post Idea is a draft or it is published. The difference controls who can see it.
- A draft is private to Hub administrators. Bound workspaces cannot see a draft, use it, or create a post from it.
- A published idea is available to every bound workspace.
Use drafts to build a full month or quarter of content before any workspace sees the plan. Write the ideas, attach the media, set the dates on the calendar, and check the sequence. Publish only when the plan is ready.
Publishing Shares the Idea
Publishing a Post Idea makes the idea available to workspaces. It does not publish a social post or post on a workspace's behalf.
Draft and Publish an Idea
Keep an Idea Private
Create or open a Hub Post Idea, then click Save Draft. The idea stays private to Hub administrators and shows a Draft badge in the library.
Schedule the Draft on the Calendar
Give the draft a date and time. Drag the card on the Content Calendar to move it. You can build and rearrange a complete calendar while every card is still private.
Share a Finished Idea
Open the draft and click Publish. The idea becomes available to every bound workspace.
Publish Several Ideas at Once
Select ideas in the library, then choose Publish Selected. Choose Move Selected to Draft to make published ideas private again. Moving a published idea to draft removes workspace access.
Dashed or Solid: Read the Calendar at a Glance
The calendar shows the visibility of each Post Idea in the shape of the card.
- Dashed outline: a private draft. Only Hub administrators see this card.
- Solid fill: a published idea. Every bound workspace sees this card.
Hover a card to open its details. A draft also carries a Draft badge there.
Publish a Whole Month in One Action
Build the month as drafts, confirm the dashed cards read the way you want, then select them all and choose Publish Selected. The dashed cards become solid, and your workspaces see the full plan at the same time.
Workspace users see published Hub ideas beside their own ideas. They can customize the details before they create, schedule, or publish a local post.
Turn an Idea Into a Post
Open the Idea
In your Post Ideas library, click an idea to open its detail view.
Create the Post
Click Create Post. Flamel will open the post editor with your idea pre-filled: the description becomes your starting caption, and any media you attached is ready to use.
Edit and Finalize
Refine the caption, then add or swap media as needed.
Schedule or Publish
Select your target accounts and choose whether to publish immediately or schedule for later.
