Transfer a workspace

Hand a workspace to a new owner. Keep the history, swap users, and reconnect socials without losing data.

Do not remove the old owner too early

This is a Hub admin task. Do not remove or unassign the previous owner until the new owner has logged in and confirmed they can see the workspace.

Pick your scenario first

Before you start, figure out which handoff you are running. The steps below cover all four — skip the parts that do not apply.

  • Previous owner leaves entirely: remove the old user, then invite and assign the new owner.
  • Multi-unit owner gives up one unit only: keep their account, just unassign them from this one workspace.
  • New owner is brand new to your network: create their user account, then assign them to the existing workspace.
  • New owner already owns other workspaces: add this workspace to their existing user account.

Transfer the workspace

Invite or assign the new owner

Workspace and seat management

Go to Organization, then User Seats. Either invite the new franchisee, or open an existing user. Assign them the transferring workspace with the Workspace Owner role.

Confirm the new owner can log in

Have the new owner sign in and confirm they can see the workspace before you change anything on the old account.

Remove or unassign the previous owner

Open the outgoing user in User Seats. If they are leaving your network entirely, remove the user. If they keep other workspaces, just unassign them from this one workspace.

Reconnect social accounts

Social tokens are tied to whoever authorized them, so they do not move with the workspace. Have the new owner open Connected Accounts, remove the stale connections, and reconnect using their own admin access on the brand pages.

What carries over automatically

These move with the workspace — no action needed:

  • Post history and analytics
  • Calendar content and scheduled posts
  • Active playbook enrollments
  • Location data and custom variables
  • Media library

What needs manual action

Social account reconnection: the new owner re-authorizes each platform after the swap (see Step 4 above).

Notification preferences: these are per user, so the new owner sets their own preferences in Profile after logging in.

Old drafts: any drafts saved under the old user account stay with that account. Recreate anything still needed.

Update the billing admin email

If the new owner should receive invoices, update the billing admin email so notices reach the right person.

Open billing settings

Go to Organization, then Billing and find the billing admin email field.

Enter the new owner's email

Replace the old billing email with the new owner's email address, then save.
