Recruitment Playbooks
Run Meta employment ads that promote each location's open jobs and follow Meta's special ad category rules.
Who This Is For?
Hub admins build the recruitment playbook once. Each workspace opts in and picks the job it wants to promote. Flamel applies Meta's employment ad rules for you.
A Recruitment Playbook is a Meta playbook that advertises open jobs instead of offers. The Hub writes the ad copy once. Each location fills that copy with an open job from its connected job feed.
Use a recruitment playbook when locations hire on their own schedule. One location needs a shift lead. Another needs an instructor. The same playbook serves both, because the job details come from each location's own job posting.
Before You Start
- Your brand connects a supported job feed to Flamel. Contact Flamel support to set up the connection. Flamel then matches each feed location to the correct workspace.
- When the connection is ready, a job feed page appears in the left sidebar for the Hub and its workspaces. Open it to confirm your jobs arrive.
- Each workspace connects its Meta ad account and finishes Ad Configuration.
- Each location posts its open jobs in the connected hiring system. The feed refreshes hourly.
No Jobs, No Ads
A workspace cannot opt in until its connected job feed shows at least one open job. Post the job first.
Hub Side: Build the Playbook
Start a Recruitment Playbook
Open Paid Social Ads, then Create, then New Recruitment Playbook.
You can also click Create Playbook, open Basic Information, and turn on Employment playbook.
Review What Flamel Locks
On the campaign step you see a panel named Employment ads (locked). Flamel sets three things for you and removes the controls:
- Meta's Employment special ad category.
- United States as the special ad category country.
- A dedicated Recruitment ad configuration for every ad set.
Flamel creates the Recruitment ad configuration for your Hub the first time you save a recruitment playbook.
Confirm the Ad Configuration
On the ad set step, open Ad configuration. A recruitment playbook lists only recruitment ad configurations. Standard ad configurations stay hidden, and Default Ad Configuration is unavailable.
Advantage+ audience is off for recruitment playbooks. Meta permits it for employment ads, but Flamel keeps it off by product policy.
Write the Ad Copy With Job Variables
Write one set of copy for the whole network. Insert the job variables below wherever the copy needs job details. Each location's chosen job fills them at launch.
Finish and Publish
Set the schedule, budget, creative, and access the same way you do for any playbook. See Creating Playbooks for every setting on those steps. Review the summary, then click Create.
Why Targeting Is Limited
Meta classifies job ads as employment ads. Meta restricts how employment ads reach people, because narrow targeting on a job ad can exclude protected groups. Flamel applies those restrictions for you, so your ads pass review and stay compliant.
These controls are unavailable on a recruitment playbook:
| Control | Status |
|---|---|
| Detailed targeting (interests and behaviors) | Not available |
| Demographics (age and gender) | Not available. Meta delivers to all adults 18 and over |
| Zip codes | Not available |
| Lookalike audiences | Not available |
| Excluded locations and excluded cities | Not available |
These controls stay fully editable:
| Control | Status |
|---|---|
| Cities and custom locations | Available, with a 15 mile (25 km) minimum radius |
| Custom audiences to include | Available |
| Custom audiences to exclude | Available |
| Languages | Available |
Radius Beats Precision
A wider radius is not a weakness here. Employment ads reach candidates on distance and relevance, so give Meta room to find people who will commute.
To edit a recruitment ad configuration, open Paid Social Ads, then Configuration, then the Recruitment tab. The restricted controls are hidden on that tab. To add another one, use Add audience type and turn on Recruitment (employment ads).
Job Variables in Ad Copy
Job variables pull details from the job a location selects at opt-in. Add them from the variable picker, under Job Variables.
| Variable | Fills with |
|---|---|
{{job.title}} | The job title on the posting |
{{job.company}} | The company name on the posting |
{{job.city}} | The city of the job |
{{job.state}} | The state of the job |
{{job.salary}} | The pay or pay range on the posting |
{{job.jobtype}} | The employment type, such as Full Time or Part Time |
{{job.url}} | The application link for the job |
Preview Before a Job Exists
Hub previews show the variable name, because no location has picked a job yet. The real values appear in the workspace preview at opt-in.
Workspace Side: Opt In
Open the Playbook
Go to Playbooks, then Shop, and open the recruitment playbook. Click Opt in.
Select the Job to Promote
A panel named Select the job to promote lists the open jobs from your connected feed. Each card shows the title, city and state, job type, and salary. Click the job you want to advertise.
This step is required. The checklist stays incomplete until you choose a job.
Fill In Any Missing Details
Some postings do not carry every field the ad copy uses. Flamel shows a warning on the selected job: "This posting doesn't include everything the ad copy uses. Fill in the missing details to continue."
Type a value for each field it lists, such as Job Salary. Your typed values fill the empty fields only. They never overwrite what the job feed supplies.
Review the Preview
Scroll to the ad preview. The job details now appear in the copy exactly as they will run.
Confirm and Opt In
Set your budget and answer any questions your Hub added, then click Opt in.
Flamel Saves the Job Details at Opt-In
Flamel copies the job details into your opt-in at the moment you confirm. A later edit to the original job posting does not change a live ad. A closed posting does not change a live ad either. Your campaign keeps running with the details you approved.
Run the Playbook Again
Recurring evergreen recruitment playbooks let a location opt in again after a run finishes. Each re-run asks you to select a job again.
This is intentional. The job you promoted last time may be filled or closed. A fresh selection keeps the new run pointed at a job you are still hiring for.
Troubleshooting
The job picker says no open jobs were found. The message reads: "No open jobs found for your location." Post the job in your connected hiring system first. The feed refreshes hourly, so wait for the next refresh, then reopen the opt-in.
I selected a job, but the checklist stays incomplete. The posting is missing a field the ad copy uses. Look for the warning on the selected job card and complete every input it shows.
I do not see New Recruitment Playbook. Your Hub has no supported job feed connection yet, or no feed location maps to a workspace. Contact Flamel support to finish the connection.
Detailed targeting and demographics are missing from my ad configuration. This is expected on a recruitment ad configuration. Meta's employment rules remove those controls. Use geography and custom audiences instead.
The ad copy shows a variable name instead of a job detail. The preview runs before a job is selected, or the selected field is still empty. Select the job, then complete the missing fields.
